On Sept. 2, 1963, Walter Cronkite anchored the first broadcast of network television's first daily half-hour news program on CBS.

Walter Cronkite, "The Most Trusted Man in America," held a huge part in the televising of the Vietnam War. 

Walter Cronkite Criticizes The Conflict in Vietnam

President Lyndon B. Johnson has been quoted saying "If I've lost Cronkite, I've lost Middle America." Cronkite had that much sway over public opinion and held the trust that the people once put into their government.
